The movie opens with a black screen and no sound. The institutions logos show, Capitol films, Cinerenta and American Zoetrope to show the audience what film companies were involved in making the movie. There is a pause with spooky sounds and music. An atmosphere is set up. The title of the movie comes up. The title is white, gothic on a pitch-black background. The background dissolves into a wideshot of the countryside. A car appears …

…from the passenger seat at an angle giving an impression that the audience is inside the car. The license plate on the van read BEATNGU. I think this means BE EATING YOU to involve the audience. The camera shows the van as a rusty old van but still has the capability. The audience get a feeling of relief, that the characters are alright. It ends with the van speeding off and Derry shouting and swearing.
