"Bacterial Resistance to Antibiotics" - Briefly explains the cause and effect of the mass usage of antibiotics, which led to many strains of bacteria to become resistant to such antibiotics.

Penicillin was the first antibiotic discovered. Soon more and more antibiotics were developed. The excess amounts of these antibiotics have caused many bacteria to produce strains that are resistant to antibiotics (Nicolaou). During the last decade, there has been a shocking increase in the appearance of antibiotic-resistant bacteria because of an increased use of antibiotics combined with the extraordinary ability of bacteria to develop resistance.
