It is not without its share of vices for sometimes it just prolongs the inevitable and sometimes even magnifies it. The Missouri compromise and the Compromise of 1850 along with many other such compromises just prolonged and maybe even magnified the inevitable- a Civil War. When one compromises his or her fundamental principles, the victory is short lived.
