Eurocentrism and the Right to Dominate in the New World.

When the first Europeans arrived on the shores of North America, with its lush landscape and seemingly endless opportunities for exploration and discovery, it seemed as if the Europeans had stumbled upon heaven on earth. The fact that a race of people already resided on the continent and had developed fairly sophisticated cultures did not deter the Europeans from trying to reach their specific goals of finding gold, spreading the word of God through Christianity …

…Europeans did not even consciously make the decision to treat Indians and Africans like beasts instead of people. They saw races that were different than they and therefore, below them and took that to mean that they could do whatever they pleased. America was the New World and whatever Europeans had to do to obtain the most value from it, they would do it because it was their right as more highly evolved white Europeans.
