Genetic Tecnology (and the future portrayed in GATTACA)

Families want their kids to be happy and healthy, but parents can be the source of unhappiness or unhealthiness of a child because of the genes they give them. Technological advances in genetics can give parents what they always wanted, a child who is perfect in every way. This possibility raises some serious concerns. Would parents use the technology to make children healthy? Or would they use it to create a better child than their …

…might become biased and almost exclusively look for suspects with a genetic possibility of behavioral disorders, not all the possible options. With all this technology and possibilities, it could create and new type of discrimination, not based on your economic status, or your race but by your genetics. In a culture that has worked so hard to break down social barriers and stomp out racism, this would be one giant step back in our progress.
