Through out history crime has existed not only through individuals but groups, some organized others not. Crime knows no boundaries: it exists in all cultures, is committed by every race, and has existed in all time periods. The Mafia was started for the purpose to create a family orientated organization of Sicilians to gain freedom, and has grown to become one of the most successful organized crime syndicates, that over time has fascinated many people. …

…and focused on making money using any illegal means possible. This led to corruption within the mafia, as it no longer carried with it the Sicilian beliefs of justice and honour; this was evident as Mafiosi killed other bosses in order to gain power for themselves. The American mafia had evolved in to a large group of overrated thieves, pickpockets and murderers, who used extortion, bootlegging, prostitution, gambling, kidnapping, and murder to achieve their ends.
