Operation Overlord 24 hours of destruction

For the time leading up to the invasion, a lot of people were getting excited because they were thinking this invasion would lead to the end of World War II. This invasion was known as "Operation Overlord" but became to be known as D-Day. Nobody expected what actually happened on the beaches of Normandy, France on June 6, 1944. …some craters left by mines, bombs, and grenades. Normandy has built a cemetery with the bodies of nearly 10,000 people. The Germans have the hardest memories but some of the German veterans still have pride in fighting for their country. A lot of people have recovered from this day but family members of those who died still have this horrible day in their memories and so do the survivors of this destructive invasion known as D-Day.
