The eighth amendment gives Americans protection from cruel and unusual punishment, but sometimes society tends to be cruel and unusual. For hundreds of years there has been racism throughout the country. In society today, we all have our own racial identity, which in many cases influences who we are, as well as how we are perceived in society. …all be considered equal no matter what. Unfortunately, I know how much work is going to have to be done in order to stop the separation. In my opinion, much of the separation is caused by the ways in which we have grown up. We are greatly affected by the type of environment and people that have surrounded us. In order to break down this barrier we all need to come together as a whole.
