During WW2, Russia fought Austria and Germany on Polish land. Poland gained the support of the allies, especially France. The first Polish state was established in the tenth century, and the recorded history begins in 966 A.D. At the end of WW2, 85% of Poland's capital;Warsaw, had been destroyed.
