Poverty is a condition to which most people strive to avoid as it is an unacceptable concept which is far removed from modern day living. It has been affecting third world countries like Africa and the people get trapped in these cycles of poverty. Even though the adolescents know that dietary intake plays a significant role in social and emotional development as well as physical growth, they still ignore these needs due to peer pressure. As such, adolescents who have dietary restriction which leads to retarded growth will become stunted adults who are less productive and will lag further behind as time passes. Hence, as explained, individual's responsibility cannot be excluded when discussing ones growth and development.
