In 1971 a study on the effects of divorce was conducted by a group of psychologists on 131 children. The children were all from middle-class families, and throughout their experiences did not suffer from significant economic insecurity. …this is true even when the children do not live in poverty. The most significant psychological problem for children of divorce seems to be a great difficulty in forming personal relationships, and tends to appear only later in life. And, of course, not all children from single-parent families have such problems, and there is no saying that all children from two-parent families don't have such problem. In general, children from two-parent families do much better.
