States Rights in the Civil War.

The states secession from the union was a very controversial issue during the Civil war. Some people believe it was the rights of the states under the Constitution to seceded from the union when others believed it was unconstitutional and the states were wrong in doing so. It focused on the common good of main while correcting the corruption in government and the working conditions of the people. President Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson both favored this idea of reform represented in progressivism. The United States experienced growth and improvements due to the ideas of the two presidents and the ideas recognized and put into action during this time.
