…Countries now generally only fought when they felt they were being threatened personally. Although bloody and nearly pointless, the Thirty-Year War showed Europeans what they were up against in terms of war and consequences and showed them enough reasons as to why they should avoid war at all costs. This is possibly the best lesson learned from all the lives and time spent in determining something as small as the official religion of a country.
