"The Awakening."
Often in life, we form relationships with different people. Though many people do not see it, each relationship affects who we are and the person we will become. Throughout, "The Awakening", the main character, Edna Pontellier, grows tremendously as a person. In the beginning of the book, Edna is merely a 19th century housewife who lives for her family. By the end of the book, Edna realizes that she will not live for anyone but
there, and the children were away. After she spent the night with Alcee, Edna cried that night. She felt ashamed of herself for cheating on her husband, and even more importantly, Robert. Edna soon started to ignore Alcee. When he asked Edna to join him for a day out, Edna often declined. Alcee provides a momentary comfort for Edna because he is the only person who is there when she wants to be with someone.
