Betrayal, hysteria, intolerance and death are all themes portrayed through out the movie adaptation of The Crucible. Converted from a play to movie by director Nicholas Hytner and released in 1997 The Crucible has continued to interest teenagers due to its witchcraft content and it's setting in Salem. …one another, the finger pointing and the alleged "hunt for the truth" lead to the out casting and scrutiny of hundreds of people. Narrow mindedness, deception, betrayal and paranoia are all a means to an end. Until we can open our minds and accept one another we will continue in the vicious cycle of our own self-deprecation. And so The Crucible is a reminder of what can happen when we let our minds run wild.
