The Cultural Struggle

Being a first generation Indo- Canadian, I have found that I have had to maintain a fine balance between my parent's roots and this western culture I find myself living in. Sometimes I feel like I am in a tug of war, caught between the two - the cultural beliefs that my parents refuse to let go and that of my generation. …Sex sells, and the clothes are just the background products. Until society changes the way they portray women in the media and until advertisements are done in a tasteful manner, they will forever maintain this constant battle I face with keeping up with the latest trends and staying my mother's sweetheart. I don't see that happening anytime in the future, so for now, ill do my best and keep the balance between the two cultures.
