…rich. Tobacco was the basis of economic life in Virginia. The profits produced by the tobacco saved Jamestown and ensured the colony's success. Although there are similarities and differences between the two colonies, they were both pretty equal in their abilites to adapt to their new surroundings. They both had their way of life and different views. If not for the settlers of these colonies, we would not be where we are today in America.
