The Woods is Our Hell
Teacher comment: Good assertions though the essay was too short. To give depth and length look formorehel/ satan reputations in the forest. You could also provide specific quotes in your reference. The Woods is Our Hell The Puritans were a people that lived their entire lives in fear that their all powerful, all knowing God was not pleased with anything they ever did. The Puritans had a belief that anything they did not understand was
the relative's unholy deeds (333). This man is Hawthorne's representation of Lucifer. With Hawthorne's roots being in Salem I can appreciate the story that much more. I enjoyed that Hawthorne wrote this story knowing his relatives were the people that found refuge in their outlandish and narrow-minded views. The representation of hell, being the woods is brilliant because Hawthorne took one-minuet belief of the Puritans and developed a story I could read time and time again.
