"The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman is a short story set in the late nineteenth century about a woman going insane. It begins with the narrator being diagnosed with temporary nervous depression even though it soon becomes apparent that she has post-natal depression. She is prescribed with rest and is soon forced to stay in a room with nothing to do but stare at the yellow wallpaper. This wallpaper and the subtle actions of
this story that she is trying to convince us of John's wrong-doings. But alas we can only see it from the narrators point of view so we have no other option but to trust her. The minor character's in this story are very important in making subtle and unapparent changes. If John was more of a main character then his actions would have been more obvious in the story making it less gripping and suspending.
