To what extent has British (or American) television been successful in providing programmes for diverse audiences?

In this essay I am going to talk about the way in which American television has been successful in providing programmes for female viewers. I will discuss the ways in which American television programmes have provided women viewers with successful role models and provided programmes which are of interest for them. They have kept changing the programmes to fit in with the times and the role of women to show their increased role in the workplace and how they balance their role in the family with that in their work. Specific programmes made for women such as Oprah and Ricki Lake are good because they provide useful information for women viewers and help them sort through problems they have.
